Biography links
Bid her a poor biography suspend, Nor crucify through vanity a friend.
— John Wolcot
The wide range of correspondents in EE means that while some were figures of national importance and appear in national biographies, others are too obscure to figure in any major biographical resource. As academies played an important role in the public life of the eighteenth century, many correspondents in EE appear among the institutional biographies; others appear in biographical dictionaries of artists, scientists, printers, lawyers, churchmen or literary figures.
