Malcolm Cook
Malcolm Cook is Emeritus Professor of French at the University of Exeter. His research interests include French fiction of the eighteenth century, the culture of the French Revolution, French manuscripts of the eighteenth century and, most especially, Bernardin de Saint-Pierre. He has published widely on this author, culminating in the recent monograph Bernardin de Saint-Pierre: a life of culture (Oxford: Legenda, 2006). Part of his work on the manuscripts of Bernardin de Saint-Pierre has been to produce an inventory of over 2500 letters which will constitute the first complete critical edition of the author’s correspondence, currently being prepared by a team of scholars under the direction of Professor Cook himself. The correspondence will be published online as part of the Bodleian Library’s Electronic Enlightenment project at the University of Oxford.
