Technical information: a digital project

Electronic Enlightenment is part of a new generation of digital projects: not just page images or a static collection like digital "books on the shelf". Pushing towards a fully (and fully accessible) digital model, EE is built from a complex integration of multilingual texts, along with constantly developing technical facilities.

For example, we have to display texts written in more than a dozen languages — and an increasing number of non-roman scripts:

  • Arabic
  • Cyrillic
  • Greek
  • Hebrew
  • ancient Syriac

Additionally, we need to present a wide range of specialized symbols, including:

  • alchemical
  • mathematical
  • pharmacological

As a result, EE's increasing technical sophistication makes some demands on user technology. This section is meant to provide information, advice and help to make the best of what the resource has to offer.
